Master of Arts in Youth Ministry

The M. A. in Youth Ministry degree requires the completion of 44 credits. The course selection includes courses in Bible, theology, youth specific, spirituality, leadership, and organizational subjects. Students will learn skills and acquire knowledge that serve to develop their research, communication, theological understanding, management, and ministerial capabilities that are essential in today’s youth ministry.

  • The M. A. in Youth Ministry requires the completion of 44 credits. The course selection includes courses in Bible, theology, youth specific, spirituality, leadership, and organizational subjects. Students will learn skills and acquire knowledge that serve to develop their research, communication, theological understanding, management, and ministerial capabilities that are essential in today’s youth ministry.

  • Upon completion of this program, the student shall be able to:

    1. communicate sound Biblical theological messages with a Christian worldview to a variety of contemporary audiences and contexts.

    2. practice consistent spiritual disciplines and articulate a strategy for youth workers to implement personal mentoring relationships for those they serve.

    3. demonstrate effective leadership skills in developing youth programs based on a Biblical philosophy and sound administrative strategy of youth ministry.

    4. nurture the practice of youth ministry in the power of the Spirit to equip disciples for Christ-like service in the church and local communities.

    5. conduct academic research, translating relevant knowledge and experience in a suitable way for youth ministry contexts.

    6. demonstrate the importance and role of institutional management systems, mission statement, planning, principles of governance, human resource issues, and financial matters as they influence youth ministry.

    7. utilize skills and biblical knowledge for practical youth ministry.

    8. understand theological ideas and positions as well as hermeneutical approaches and practices.

    9. feel competent in doing further study at the post-graduate level in theological, spiritual, or ministry-related research.

    ‣ a forum for a reflective and critical thinking of one’s theology and youth ministry.

    ‣ an opportunity to engage with a process of spiritual formation.

    ‣ a curriculum that is focused on relative topics of study in the field of contemporary youth ministry as well as Bible and theology.

    ‣ an opportunity to tailor the program to fit student’s learning objectives.

    ‣ a part-time study program with flexible in person and online (synchronous/asynchronous) learning. A student can complete the degree within three years or take up to six years to complete it.

    ‣ a distant learning opportunity via internet for those who cannot attend classes in person.

    ‣ an opportunity to study in person or online.

  • ‣ vocational and volunteer youth workers in church, community, and camp settings.

    ‣ learners holding the undergraduate or graduate degree from another field.

    ‣ students who wish to complete their unfinished master’s degree (certain restrictions apply).

    ‣ individuals who would need to fulfil the educational requirements for credentialing within the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (ROMER). (Certain restrictions may imply.)

    ‣ undergraduate graduates seeking for master’s degree to be equipped to teach in domestic and/or international training institutions or churches in the area of youth ministry.

    ‣ students from all church denominations.

    ‣ students who are planning to earn determinate ministerial (doctorate) degree in the future.

    ‣ international students who qualify for graduate level work.

  • Students may study on campus or opt to participate in the live class via video conference.

    A student enrolls in the class like everyone else, engages with the learning material and assignments as others in the class, but is present in the class sessions via video conference.

    An online student misses very little of the dynamics of the classroom experience.

  • Cost: $333 per credit or $999 per 3-credit course
